How You Can Reject the Truth

How you can reject truth
When I choose to live in sin, I am choosing to live in my own lie and reject the God’s truth and pay a price
I.                   When you practice sin, you are rejecting fellowship with God (vs 4-6)
This is a willing and knowing rejection
1Peter 5:5
“Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble."”
God will actively resist you. You will not be experiencing the grace of relationship with God because you choose to find your identity in sin and self!
II.                God died so that you would be free from the chains of sin! (vs 7-9)
Roman 5:20-6:4
“Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.
People use this for license
We are given grace to be justified and sanctified. You have a wrong view of God and to sin is a rejection of grace.
III.             The cost of rejecting truth is your brother and sister in Christ (10)
You will take people with you wherever you go….you reject God and you will leave your
Luke 10
The story of the Good Samaritan
It wasn’t the one with the knowledge or the perfect one with all the list of accomplishments….all you can bring before the Lord is nothing!!!
In the end you leave your brother and sister in the dirt bleeding and naked and cold.
Application
  1. Make a new start this summer
  2. Put off sin! Stop living for yourself.
  3. If you see someone sinning tell them or your only allowing them to hurt themselves.
